The Great Falls Grange Hall, built in 1929, was a center for town assemblies, fundraisers and carnivals. Today, the hall is available for meetings, weddings and other events. The Old Schoolhouse adjacent to the hall was built in the 1890s and is also rented out. The surrounding eight-acre park has a picnic shelter, playground, and softball and soccer fields.

The mission of the 27-acre park, which includes five acres of strollable gardens, is to increase the awareness and practice of gardening. Special programs and classes are offered, and there is a horticultural library.

Huntley Meadows has 1,425 acres of natural habitats, including wetlands, meadows and mature forest. It is populated by fox, deer, beaver, otter and more than 200 species of birds. A boardwalk wends through wetlands, leading to an observation tower.

This 493-acre park includes a 55-acre lake and offers boating, fishing, hiking, miniature golf, an antique carousel, a snack bar, tour-boat rides, picnic areas and playgrounds. No swimming.

This 476-acre park includes an 18-acre lake and the Water Mine Family Swimmin' Hole, an outdoor swimming pool with slides, flumes, sprays, showers and interactive play features encircled by a "lazy river" for tubing. The park also offers pedal-boat rentals, fishing, a carousel, campgrounds, trails, a playground and picnic areas. Swimming in the lake is prohibited.

The park includes ballfields, a hiking trail, a playground and a tot lot as well as tennis courts and a refreshment stand. In the summer, an evening concert series and a children's entertainment series are held in the park's amphitheater.

The 1,814-acre park is on a peninsula that is home to an active heron rookery. It also attracts several other species of birds, including whistling swans, ducks and bald eagles. The park has a picnic area, a playground, a visitors center with exhibitions, hiking trails, fishing and car-top boat launch facilities. No swimming.

The center offers activities for adults, teenagers and children, including classes, lectures, study tours, exhibitions, performances and specialty shows. It also sponsors community events, including McLean Day at Lewinsville Park in May and Fourth of July fireworks at Langley High School. It is funded by residents of greater McLean through a real estate tax surcharge. Meadowlark is 95 acres of lakes, cherry trees and blossoming plants. It also features the Atrium, a meeting and reception facility with indoor gardens, rental gazebos suitable for weddings, picnic facilities and trails.

Nottoway Park includes tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, garden plots, picnic areas, a fitness trail and a nature path. Nottoway is also home to Hunter House, a historic mansion that can be rented for private events.

Located on the Occoquan River across from the town of Occoquan, this 400-acre park includes a marina, a batting cage, picnic shelters, gazebos, trails and baseball and soccer fields.

The bayside park is on the historic Mason Neck peninsula, which shelters wildlife, including bald eagles. The park has a golf course, a campground, boat rentals, fishing, a pool, miniature and disc golf courses, bridle paths, nature trails and picnic areas.

The center offers a wide variety of activities, including swimming, fine and performing arts, and special events. A second location, at Lake Anne, is at 1609-A Washington Plaza and includes an art gallery, ceramics lab and meeting rooms. Riverbend is a 400-acre park of forest, meadows, ponds and streams along the Potomac River. It has a pavilion, picnic tables and a boat ramp for private launches. Swimming is prohibited. The park's nature center and picnic shelter are available for private rentals.

The Fairfax County YMCA in Reston includes a fitness center, a swimming pool, a wellness and an education center, a teen center, a science and technology suite, a child development program and outdoor sports fields.
